Project Title: Strengthening Physical Rehabilitation in Georgia

USAID-funded Physical Rehabilitation Project is a four-year project implemented by the prime contractor Emory University School of Medicine (Emory) and principal sub-contractors - Coalition for Independent Living (CIL), Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU), and Partners for International Development (PfID).

Goal: The Physical Rehabilitation in Georgia activity aims to expand access to quality, affordable physical rehabilitation services and assistive technologies in Georgia.

Target regions: Tbilisi, Imereti, Samegrelo, A/R Adjara

Project Objectives and Activities:

The main objectives of the project are:

1. Strengthen capacity of existing and emerging physical rehabilitation professionals;
2. Enhance physical rehabilitation and AT services and referral mechanisms; and
3. Improve state policies on physical rehabilitation

To achieve the pre-determined objectives, the CIL implements the following activities:

1. W/C service training
2. Wheelchair skills camp
3. Establish peer support, counseling and referral Centres
4. Strengthen local systems that support local wheelchair production and maintenance/repair in Georgia
5. Contribute to creating platforms for policy work and policy changes together with the GoG and other stakeholders
